LAS VEGAS (KSNV News3LV) — Marijuana cultivators and production companies are racing to stock dispensaries in the Las Vegas Valley ahead of the July 1 start of recreational marijuana sales.
The rush to stock the shelves comes amid a court order that limits who can transport marijuana between growers and the stores.
Redwood Cultivation’s warehouse is busy prepping Willie Nelson brand pre-rolled joints by the thousands.
“We’ve been working 24 hours for the last two weeks in anticipation of this,” said Redwood Cultivation’s CEO Paul Schloss.
The Las Vegas area company is racing to fill orders from more than 30 dispensaries.
“We’re ready … we’re packaging … we’ve been delivering for the last seven days to the stores, getting them ready, and we’ll finish up tomorrow. All the stores will be stocked,” said Schloss.
On July 1, certain dispensaries will be allowed to sell whatever product is on their shelves. However, a court order gives liquor distributors exclusive rights to transport the weed, meaning if the state doesn’t license those liquor companies right away, the pot supply pipeline could be in jeopardy.
“The stores have been really ramping up their purchases in anticipation for supplying for the next five to six weeks so we’re confident that they’re going to be well stocked and there won’t be an interruption in supply and demand,” said Schloss, adding that he believes the roll-out of legal marijuana in Nevada will be smoother than any other state.
“With the tourism we have, this will definitely be the largest rollout compared to Washington State, Oregon, or Colorado,” said Schloss.
